whatd you guys get on the "x is inversely proportional to y..what is directly proportional to 1/xsquared

oh and also the one with xsquared - 5kx +m or somtehing

yeah, this problem and the one where it asked for the value of m were two that i had a little trouble on. Also, did you have the one where it was like A B and C are 3 points, which of the following can't be true: AB + AC = Bc, ect. I know that same question was an experimental on the march one as well as the book question, but I don't know if it was experimental on this test too.

the first one was y, next was 16, and last one AB + AC > BC cannot be true (the sum of 2 legs of a triangle cannot be larger than the 3rd side).

pretty sure those were the answers

y?...wow i dont know anybody else that got that...then i got 24 for the second one

woudln't the first one be y^2 since the proportion was 1/x^2

i said...since y=1/x ...then y^2=1/x2...then 1/y^2 is the answer

inversely proportional so it would be xy....if it was 1/x divide 1/x by x and get 1/x^2

that was my reasoning anyway

the sum of two legs of a triangle can be bigger than the 3rd side, in fact I thought they have to larger. just take a 3,4,5 for example. 3+4 is definitely > 5. am i missing something?

f(a+b) = f(a) + f(b)... was it I and III

yhea but i sitll wanna know what it is to the xsquared one

oops yea dunkin I guess i screwed that one up...did it the opposite..for f(a+b) I put just I but I'm not sure if that was right..

but Dunkin, if AB + AC = BC was the wrong one, why couldn't it be AB + AC < BC?

Someone Gimme An Answer To The Squared One

I got I and III too for the f(a+b) = f(a) + f(b)

how about the one with the angles extending out of O and itasked you what was one of the angles in the middle

I said 120 for that... but I might've misread which angle they were looking for

i think i remember getting 120 for one too

What about the triangles/8-sided figure question, and 6 points on a plane?

for the triangles/8 sided figure... i put that it formed 6 triangles.. and for the 6 points on a plane i think it was just 5+4+3+2+1=15

if anyone knows the answers to these tell me

1) what is directly proportional to 1/x^2
2) what is the the value for k on the constants question
3) what is the value of the angle in the middle of all those lines extending from point O
