This has probably been answered on here before but I can't find it.
Does UVA superscore the SAT and do they look at the writing section?
Thanks

Been told by a professor that if you don't have the scores or grades that it stops there. you have to have the main criteria to get looked at and then it is balanced with everything.

Carnut, that's ridiculous. The entire folder is read. Obviously, your activities or a recommendation can't "trump" your transcript, but we still read everything. We have to take notes on all parts of the application to justify our decisions.

The question was really about how we treat scores. We will recombine your scores. We have to report our numbers to lots of places, so it's in everyone's best interest to only consider the best score in each area.

We'll look at the new writing section, but we'll probably have a better idea of what to do with it when validity studies are finished. UVa and many other schools have started these studies this year to see if there's a relationship between the scores on this new test and performance in college.

Thanks for your help Dean J!
