Columbia is my dream school, and I'm trying to do everything I can to make my application "good enough". I have a few questions concerning whether or not I should retake the SAT, and if you could give me some advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Here are my scores so far:

February: 2150
CR: 730
M: 620
W: 800

June: 2210
CR: 690
M:720
W: 800

I'm happy with my math, considering I raised it 100 points, as well as with my writing (obviously). But my critical reading is what worries me. Is it worth retaking a third time, since I know I could definitely do better with a little practice? I got an 800 on the Lit test and a 36 on ACT Reading, if that makes a difference.

Thanks, Epamonindas. My ACT is 34, which I’m completely happy with. I guess I was just worried that Columbia would see my less than stellar CR score when I submitted my subject tests. But if you don’t think it’ll be a problem, then I should be fine.

yeah, just submit your ACT, which is quite good.
and like Epaminondas said, you get score choice (for the first time) this year. not that your SAT score is bad; you can still submit it and I don’t think it would hurt you.

o how college-admission pressure clouds the mind…

730 is not less than stellar man! they really do super-score, so a 1450 M/CR is excellent and then to top it off u got the 800 in writing. You’re in columbia’s upper percentile…now it’s all about your extra-currics, essay, recs, and fit.

Yeah… and even without score choice, since some major universities won’t allow it–just omit your SAT I scores from your application altogether and the university will understand that you don’t want them to consider it. I was in the exact same situation last year (with a lower SAT). Your score is pretty good.

Thanks everybody for all the replies. I guess I feel a little silly now for overreacting, but I’m also much less stressed. Especially seeing as my parents were going to make me pay for the next test myself, and now I can spend it on something much more fun! Yay frivolous spending :)
