I recently had a name change, but my SATs and subject tests--AP tests for that matter too--were taken under my old name. In the additional information portion of the Common App I noted my situation. However, would I have to e-mail admissions and tell them that the scores I sent were under a different name; I am worried that they might not match up my application (new name) with my scores (old name).

You are going to have to follow up with ALL of your schools about this and might have to do it a few times. I would email AND call each school to make sure they are aware of the situation.

I am assuming that my scores haven’t been received yet–I sent them on 12/14–and that most people that work admissions would be off on vacation. Do you think the schools I am applying to would have a problem if I can’t contact them by the 1/1 deadline? For instance, would UVA know that I sent in my scores and app before the 1/1 deadline, even if I notified them after the fact?

By the way, Dean J can I send an e-mail describing my situation to undergradadmission@virginia.edu; or should I wait until I file my Common App later tonight.

Ok, Dean J I have a question. I sent an e-mail to undergrad admissions detailing my situation, and received a response that it was going to be sent to the appropriate department; this was on 12/23. I checked my SIS and it still says under my “to do list” that I need to send standardized tests scores. I know that is extremely busy in the admissions office right now, but how long is the waiting period for my scores to match my application. I apologize if I sound to pushy, but I just want to ensure that everything with my application goes through smoothly. Thank you.
