Okay, so I took the October SAT and got a 2130 with a 12 on the writing. I've not taken any subject tests yet and am definitely applying to Stanford RD (Jan. 1), and am wondering if they would rather see subject tests or an improved SAT score? That is, should I retake the reasoning test or take a few subject tests?

Also, which subject tests would you recommend?

they strongly recommend two subjects tests. You're going to have to keep the SAT I score and take the subject tests if you want to be seriously considered

take math II cause it has more leeway than math I and is just as easy. Take US History, easiest test I've taken in my life. But don't take Lit unless you really love poetry analysis, these questions are like just as hard as the AP english test questions.

I don't see where they have stated 'STRONGLY recommended' for SAT II tests in their current admission guidelines as opposed to just 'recommended'.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the officer I spoke with when I called admissions said not having subject tests would NOT count against an applicant and their current admissions guidelines support this:

"SAT Subject Tests are recommended but not required for admission. We recommend taking at least two SAT Subject Tests, as such information will assist us in our evaluation process. Applicants, however, who choose not to take SAT Subject Tests will not be at a disadvantage in the admission process."

I know they were strongly recommended in previous years but it seems that they will certainly consider you without these tests this year or their literature is misleading.

Are you hearing admission reps in your part of the country/world saying that they should definitely be taken? I would love to get a current insider perspective.

Thanks again for the suggestions. And thanks "endventure", that is certainly helpful. I'm glad that you are not overlooked just because you haven't taken the subject tests.
