SAT Range?

Congrats to the 17th LAC in the country!

I had a question about the SAT range. In the new USNWR it says the SAT range is 1300-1450 ('05). Is that the range for the accepted class that are currently freshmen?

Also I've seen on other sources that the SAT range is 1320-1450..can anyone clarify this for me? THANKS!

i could be wrong but i think the SAT range for the class of 2010 is 1320-1450, I will get back to you for sure tomorrow

Any guess to why our ranking actually dropped? Not that US News really matters.

peer assessment (we're in the south and have lee in the name, doesnt fly too well with our fellow LAC's apparently)

we only report half of our endowment (its a complicated issue involving Coke)

alumni giving rate isnt as high as some peer schools

I'm going to assume by "Coke," you mean Coca-Cola bottling corporation.

And why is that?

^ Again I'm not going to get into that its complicated - it all has to do with the Lettie Pate Evans Whitehead Foundation - think Evans Hall - http://www.lpevans.org/index.html
the part of our endowment (about half) that is from that foundation is not reported to rankings like US News

The middle 50% SAT range for the class of 2010 is 1330-1450

So having a 1350 puts me in like the 30th percentile :/

Pretty much, I hope you can make up for it with your GPA, essay, interview and extracurrics

"I hope you can make up for it..."

Oohhh Dima.

IDefineCool: The important thing is that your score IS within the range! And also, any school would admit that they do accept students with scores both above and below those SAT ranges, so NO WORRIES just yet. Don't rely on advice from CCposters who know nothing else about you other than your SAT score. It's not worth your time or your anxiety.

just to let you know, i actually had an SAT that was the bottom of that percentile when i applied. (and i, obviously, got in). it's 25-75%, so there WILL be people let in that have below that... it's just a guideline, not a "you must have this to apply". i think people lose sight of that sometimes.

I'm not sayingg that he can't get in. If 30% of the incoming class had scores below 1330, then obviously the school admitter quite a bit of people with scores like that. All I am saying is that they probably had above average GPA, extracurrics, essay and/or interview. Obviously there's still a shot even if you're below the percentile, you just have to make up for it in other ways.

My ECs are mostly athletic related and I'm just waiting for a shot for one of the coaches to get a look at me to know if I'm good enough to be recruited (he hasn't had a chance to come to a game yet).

Do they really care about the writing component of the SAT?Do you know whether they have released the average of the SAT writing component?

Yes, they have always cared about writing. Even before the writing section was a part of the SAT, W&L required the SAT II in Writing. As for average, try searching the W&L websitie for it.

Princeton Review has an estimated average writing score of 670 for W&L I believe.
