SAT range

What do you think the minimum SAT scores are that should be sent to Bowdoin?

2100+ ?

I have a 2140, 800 M 640 CR 700 W and am trying to decide if I should send them

Hmmm, it's kind of a tough call. According the collegeboard, your CR score is outside of middle 50% range, and I'm not sure if your other scores would compensate for that. But if you send the score, I really don't think that it would hurt you because your composite is pretty decent :)

College Search - Bowdoin College - SAT®, AP®, CLEP®

Hm...I was wondering the same thing.

710 M
670 CR
800 Wr

2180 Composite

The mid-50% (25% to 75%) ranges for the current first-year class are:

reading: 650 - 740
math: 650 - 730
writing: 650 - 730

Looking at SATs another way, scoring in the 700 - 800 range were the following percent of first years:

reading: 49%
math: 45%
writing: 51%

So roughly speaking, you probably want to be at about 700 on each test but there's plenty of room for those with lower scores and other credentials (like good grades or talents or skills of some sort). So if your scores are within that 700 range (or 2100 overall) (give or take a few points), there's no reason for you to withhold them.

I'm still concerned... My sat composite is a 2110 (CR)730 (M)690 (W)690... but I have a very high gpa. I don't know if my sats would detract...
Ugh, I really do not know what to do... What a difficult decision

I am leaning toward not sending because my math and writing aren't quite 700s...

daiea08, what about your SAT2s? Would those help you make the decision? (As it stands, I think you should probably send them, based on your CR and Math scores.)

I am an international student from Nepal. My SAT scores aren't gr8
CR 620
M 680
W 630

Should I withhold my SATs?

In case you were wondering...my SAT IIs weren't that great, but I'm taking them over Jan 26... Sooo yeah. I'm about to pay. Any final opinions??? Please help me....

What does "not that great" mean? No one can give you a realistic opinion without actual figures. To some people around here, that would mean 720. To others it means 600.

Oh, sorry. chem 570.. I'm pretty sure that's generally considered lackluster. 630 math. and 710 history. YUP.

I'd say history's pretty good, math is not helpful, and chem is negative. You were nominated as top chem student and got a 570?! Clearly these tests are not your thing. So given your good GPA and rank I'd come down on the side of not sending scores unless you manage to get another SAT2 up into the 700s.

Good luck!

haha. Yup. Its kind of slap in the face! And I got a 98 on my chem regents, so I am not completly useless. I just suck at standardized test.... UGH. I am taking the chem sat over as you know. I sent them anyway. I wrote kick a$$ essays and I just hope Bowdoin understands?! I hope, I hope. :(

oh, also my chem sat was actually a 580. STILL sucks

lol @ chamber orchestra listed as honors :)

Hey you! It IS an honor! It is actually a course weighted more heavily than the other orchestras at my school. Honestly... it wasn't that hard to get in...BUT, WHEN GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY I WILL LIST A COURSE AS AN HONORS. Wouldn't you?
However, I did manage to restrain myself from listing my AP interior design class.. (joke for all of you who are now frantically searching the course listing)

^^yes, I would :)

you look like a good applicant, daiea
