Hi guys,
I’m Kevin and I’m from the Netherlands. The last time I took the ACT, I ran out of time after I had skimmed the passage.
I don’t know if it’s just me as a non-native speaker, or if other people also struggle with this.
So now I’m attempting to take the SAT, because it allows me longer to skim through the passage than the ACT. Does anyone have good strategies for people who read very slow? I thank you in advance!
If it takes you a long time to read the passages, a good strategy would be to plot all questions before reading the passage. So before you start each passage, go through the questions. Most of them go with a certain line number so you can put each question number next to the line or lines they go with in the passage. While you’re reading, every time you get to a question number you’ve written down and have read all the lines that go with that question, then go back and answer the question. You don’t have to have read the entire passage to answer most of the reading questions. This should save you time so you don’t have to reread the lines for each question.
Thanks for the quick reply!
