Sat Reasoning June 06 - Post All Discussions HERE!

...or maybe my memory's failing me.....does anyone know exactly what the question was asking?

you're not mistaken, cardinal, this is that question.

grr not another wrong answer I hope...

Digamma - here is my explanation from an earlier post about the hyhber pass question

the question refered to lines x-y. those lines said something like "whether being lost in the department store, or adventuring in the khyber pass, the experience of getting lost is the same"

therefore, i really believe the answer is remote and exotic. the author is comparing the safe toy store to the exotic kyhber pass. through the comparison of these two different things he is showing that the "Experience of getting lost" does not have to be adventuring through a dangerous path. Instead, he is saying that "the experience of being lost" is when you are unaware of your surroundings and are experiencing new things with a new capacity.

i really don't think the author used the khyber pass to show a place that he would enjoy to get lost in.

it was a grid-in with the answer of 112.

wait we are wrong?

ahh i can't wait until june 26th....and it might get delayed again!! what's college board coming to anyway

and somebody told me COMIC EXAGERATION was an answer to the lost passage. did anybody put this answer, because i certainly did not have this as an answer or even remember it as an asnwer choice.

huh.......crap
i don't remember....but if that was one of the choices....it could be the answer.....after all, khyber pass is a bit of an exaggeration.....

and the santa claus refernce was to show a distinct child's perspective. it seems to be the conensus on that answer.

It makes sense to, because he is comparing Santa to jack and the bean stalk or something. or was it a monstor? either way, im pretty sure thats the answer

no way.............i agree with exotic or a place where he is content
no way its a comic exaggeration

so what was the answer to the question about the Santa claus as a huge monster?

somebody said Comic exaggeration was the answer to the question that asked about the reaction to the "Do not Panic".

I put that it showed it contrasted the theoretical effect with the actual effect.

santa as monstor - uniquely childs perspective

o....u almost gave me a heart attack :( so it was a not the khyber pass question you were talking about i guess

tim- i agree with both your previous posts. Child's perspective, and theoretical vs actual.

i am really hoping to get an 800 this time. it seems that all the answers i put are basically commenly accepted except the kyhber pass one, which i believe i got right.

but, who knows.

actually, the author mentioned the "huge monster" while he was looking at a picture of himself as a child compared to the plump santa, and made that remark. but I'm not sure.

where did you get theoretical vs. actual?

also, I searched this thread and the santa question was never discussed before I brought it up.

o.....that makes sense.....well mea culpa.
next time I should thoroughly read the full context before answering,,,,

the 'Don't Panic question'
