"The high school class of 2006 recorded the sharpest drop in SAT scores in 31 years, a decline that the exams owner, the College Board, said was partly due to some students taking the newly lengthened test only once instead of twice."

I think the scores went down because the new test is just too long.

I know kids who got much lower scores on the SAT than on the much shorter but otherwise similar PSAT that they took a few months earlier. I think length was probably the most important factor in their score drop.

"I played counter-strike for 13 hours straight with no food and bathroom breaks. Just to let you know."

I can understand getting carried away with something you like, and going a long time with barely moving. However, most people I know don't like the SAT. :P

there is a very interesting article in a recent newsweek about this, also comparing the sat to the act, and the trend towards the rising popularity of the act..

it makes sense, the material is harder, and the test is much longer.

I am such a supporter of splitting the SAT1 into 3 smaller exams, and having these exams at 10/12AM rather than 8. I would bet money that scores would dramatically improve if this were to be in effect.
