College Board just announced they're completing redesigning the SATs. Thoughts?

PS- I'm a reporter for The Daily Pennysylvanian, Penn's student newspaper, and if anyone wants to be quoted, PM or email me: mamic@sas.upenn.edu.

I think Coleman wants to come across as a benevolent supporter of education, but I truly feel this is an economic decision based on the ACT overtaking the SAT. States such as Kentucky are now actually giving the ACT to all of its juniors. The Jefferson Country School District in KY uses the test results as benchmarks and assessment for the schools. It has become a high stakes test. Very few school districts that I am aware of do a similar thing with the SAT. ( I know Palm Beach does). It sounds like they are trying to re-design it to be more like the ACT! (curriculum based)

With more and more states adopting the federal common core standards and demonstrating a willingness to spend tax dollars to assess high schools kids, the College Board has decided to chase those tax dollars. Question: will this be another dumbing down?
