SAT Registration for 8th grader/Too much info?

Hi all,

My daughter is registering to take the SAT for the Johns Hopkins CTY which is now active in FL so she will be taking it in March. She already took the ACT in 7th grade for Duke TIP but wants to try the SAT for the experience because it has the essay requirement and she also seems to prefer the summer classes offered at the CTY over the Duke TIP program. When we went to the College board web site to register her, the system seems to want a lot of information which pertains to students already in HS. Is it necessary for all this information ( classes, interests, major etc..) to be entered in order for her to simply take the test? I thought tests taken during the 7th or 8th grade were purged by June? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, you should have the option of filling out that student information later/skip it. That’s what I always do when registering for the SAT. They use that information to later find colleges that match you and will let those colleges contact you/your daughter through e-mail.
I didn’t think I needed that service because I already knew what colleges I wanted. Hope that helps!

You definitely have the option of filling in that stuff later. It’s really just CollegeBoard asking for more information, something that’s recent I believe. When I took the SAT in 8th grade registration was a simple and barebones process…
