SAT requirements for CS Major at UMD

Hi,
I wanted to get your feedback on SAT scores for Comp Sci Major at UMD

I have

  • 3.8 Unweighted GPA and
  • 4.13 Weighted GPA,
  • Good rigor in classes.
  • Have supporting extra curriculars.
  • SAT is 1470 ( 700 R, 770 Math)

I just cant decide if I should submit my scores or go test optional ? Are they competitive enogh for Comp Sci major?

It’s a tough question. You use your best judgement.

I lean yes. Why ?

Strong math score (75% is 780) and at most 55% submitted. It may be less as some submit both.

So 45% didn’t submit. If they did, the #s would likely be lower.

There’s no way to know but I’m guessing CS has a higher submission rate.

Maybe you can ask admissions if they break out by major or college.

If you were applying for a liberal art, journalism, or even business I’d say heck yeah.

I don’t think it would hurt you submitting. I think, maybe incorrectly, in the more competitive major that it could hurt you not submitting.

It’s tough, I agree.
