SAT Rescoring

Though my March SAT scores are decent, I am appalled with the score I received in two sections. In CR, I usually score within the 700 range, but my actual score is about a 100 points off. I was most confident in this section, but it turns out it was the worst score out of all three. In writing, I have never received below a 700 in all of my 15+ practice tests, but somehow I managed to do that on the actual SAT. Once again, I was extrememly confident in this section. I checked my answers with that on this forum right after the test and it seemed I had done well. I knew I had done poorly in the math section, but it seems I actually did much better than I projected ... Is it even worth it to get them to rescore it?

***my question is has anyone ever gotten collegeboard to rescore your SATs by hand grading it, what is the cost, how long does it take?

***has anyone received online scores that were different from your score report?

***& if you have had them rescore your test, did you get your money back/were they actually wrong?

i know about the march scandal in 2006 and this isn't the first time collegeboard has messed up. they graded my AP US exam last year completely wrong and i was depressed about it for months until my teacher called collegeboard and insisted that they rescore my test + many other of my peers. it turns out they did make a mistake and my score went from a 2 to a 5.

don't get me wrong, i totally accept my faults and it is totally possible that i completely screwed up making dumb mistakes under pressure. i just want to make sure i got the right score after doing endless hours of preparation. i probably wouldn't be as upset had i not felt so confident that i had done well.

It costs #50 i believe

Whoa, did you ever find out what happened with your APUSH exam? Was it like a problem with your scantron or what?

im in a similar situation as u r in. im going to do the same thing.

yup, in the letter they claimed they scored the mc
incorrectly or something.

& i laughed when it said "sorry for any inconvience caused".
i broke down when i saw that i got a 2 thinking i must have
seriously messed up somewhere on the test & didn't even
consider that they had messed up.

krapde, are you waiting until you get the score report?

How does one go about having the SAT rescored? My D's score was extremely surprisingly low and didn't make sense.

i believe you have to call collegeboard and they'll send you a form, in which you must fill out and send back. i hear the process is long, but i would go for it, especially if the scores really didn't make sense. i'm still not sure if i should rescore ... i want to order Q&A! but that's not an option for the march test.

ShesOnHerWay, see http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/scores/sending/handscore.html

eviecottrell, i've received the form via email, but i have yet to fill it out. i don't know when the deadline for sending it is.

I had the same problem. They say that I omitted 9 in the Reading Section, and I know I answered them all.

Hoping for the best, I guess.
