The thing is, I know that my 1600 on math and critical reading is pretty solid, but I normally do a TON better on writing. Like I think I could potentially get an 800 on the Writing if I tried again. Also, another person at my school got a perfect score on her second try, so I’m feeling the pressure to keep up.
On the other hand, I don’t want to come off as an annoying Ivy-wannabe, I don’t want to go through the stress of taking the SATs again, and I really don’t want to take the risk of taking it again and NOT getting an 800 on the Writing like I wanted.
I talked to a lot of people about this, my parents, senior friends (I’m a junior), and even my counselor. But everyone just said it was up to me and they saw both sides as I do.
Well I got an 800 CR 800 M and 670 WR and for me, I’m not retaking since writing is the least looked at to the point where some colleges don’t. I’m sure I could get around 750 on WR, but the extra time spent for me, personally, wouldn’t be worth it. Though if you have the time and you think an extra 40-90 points on WR is worth it, then you should retake it. A 2310 is already a phenomenal score, especially with the 1600 CR and M. Like all the other people said, it’s pretty much to you and how much you want that higher WR score.
Increasing the writing score will make no difference. I would strongly discourage a retake because doing so would make your priorities seem out of order.
“so I’m feeling the pressure to keep up.”
Then by all means do, since I am sure you will take it again regardless of what people in here tell you.
You are already aware that you have 1600 Cr+M and that will be more than enough for 99.99% of adcoms.
I don’t really get why people ask these kind of stupid questions.
You have a very good score, and a 2400 won’t make a difference. (Maybe only to your pride)
Do whatever you wish. If you feel like you can retake the SATs and get a higher score, you might as well… With a 2310, I’m sure you realize you have no need to retake… Yet it certainly would not hurt anything, considering that was your first try. If you feel like you need to compete with others at your school, do it.
