SAT/SATII/etc.

It seems as though studying for the SAT II's are harder. Did anyone find it that way also. I heard that studying for US History is the easiest SAT II if you don't have any previous knowledge. However, I'm having a tough time retaining all the information. Did anyone else have this problem. Does any one have any advice on which SAT II's are the easiest to study for and take. Also, does all the information in the books for the US History actually show up on the test?

Some may be more difficult, but you can score higher on them. Like the Math IIc; you can get somewhere around 42-43/50 correct, and still get an 800. Other tests may be a bit easier, but they don't have a very good scale. I'm not sure about the U.S. History one, but I don't think the information is as specific as you would see on a final for the class. I believe it is more the "main ideas" that get you a good score. You'd have to check CollegeBoard(.com) for more...

i took the SATII USH and I thought it was fairly easy (but this was after having taken a pretty rigorous APUSH class). The SATII is just as detailed as the APUSH exam in my opinion. Some of the questions were identical. I've only looked through the Kaplan's review book but it seems that the review books don't go into enough detail about the right parts. Kaplans had a whole section devoted to recent events, even including 9/11 and obviously those things will not appear on the SATII unless you're REALLY unlucky and even so, you should know them from watching the news and whatnot. The USH SATII is definitely good for someone who is confident in history from the start. You can't study for it if you don't have interest in it and aren't good with memorization (as this exam is a test about memorization of facts, not understanding of history). US has one of the shortest histories in the world but in compensation, they test you on a lot of DETAILS.

In choosing SATIIs to take, I always recommend taking SATIIs right after or during the last few months of taking the class that corresponds to the exam. Take MathIIC after precalc as it'll be tough to remember certain details after Calc. Take the sciences after taking the APs if possible because most high scorers are taking them after studying for the AP. Take a language exam only if you're fluent, as most people who take the language SATIIs are actually taking it because it's their mother language. And writing, it was required for class of 2005, I don't know how it is now with the new SATI, but there's really very few ways of studying for it (I studied nonetheless but I didn't do well). And always, start studying at least two weeks before the exam. I crammed and it wasn't fun. Good luck on your exams!

I also took the SAT2 after the AP USH and found it fairly easy. I'd reccomend taking an SAT2 in any class you've taken AP and done well in. It makes studying for it that much easier.

The only AP class given in my school before my senior year is AP European History. I am currently taking that class. However, none of the choices for the SATII's match that subject. Do any of you know if taking the SAT II World History would match?

World History covers much more ground (geographically and time-wise) than AP European. What you might want to think about doing is self-studying the non-european bits of world history over the summer, and taking the SAT II in October and the SAT in November (if you have to retake). Can you take a science or math SAT II in June? That would get those out of the way.

I dunno why but SAT II writing was more difficult than sat I verbal for me lol :)

I will have completed Honors Chemistry by the end of my Junior year. However, I saw some sample tests of the SAT II Chemistry test and the questions seem much more advanced. Does anyone have any advice?

I though physics wasn't that bad after taking the AP test last year...

"I dunno why but SAT II writing was more difficult than sat I verbal for me lol "

That's because the SAT II writing is parallel to the PSAT writing, or the New SAT writing section. SAT I is vocab and comprehension whereas SAT II writing is grammar etc.

sat ii chem is really easy if you had a rigorous ap chem class and math iic is just easy overall

i didnt do 9 out of 50 questions and i still got a 760

which SAT II tests besides the math tests would be good to take if I haven't had any AP classes yet?

High scores after a good honors chemistry course are not uncommon - at least on this board. My son pulled a 790 - took the chem SAT II about 4 days after the honors chemistry final. Remember, you will have had another another semester of chemistry by the time you take it. You could sign up to take IIC and Chemistry in June - if you didn't feel comfortable with the Chemistry, just take IIC.
