Hello,

I am scheduled to take the November 2nd SAT, but I do not fully understand what Score Choice is.

Is the fact that I get to pick any 4 colleges to send reports to- called Score Choice? I plan to send my scores to no colleges, since I might get a bad score, Is this is a good decision?

Please explain Score-Choice and will my scores be sent to all colleges when I take the SAT on November 2nd? Or just the 4 that i pick?

Score-choice is taking the highest scoring in each section and putting to together. Aka super-score(max possible score)

Score Choice is when you get to pick which SAT and SAT Subject Test scores get sent. (Technically you could send your lowest scores if you wanted to.) Without Score Choice, they all get sent by default.
When you go onto the College Board website to send your scores, it will be really obvious how it works. You’ll be able to just uncheck the ones you don’t want sent, at no additional cost. But some colleges want you to send all your scores.
If you apply to colleges, you’ll have to send your test scores at some point, but you can look at the scores first and then send them.

Superscoring = combining high subsection scores from different tests into one high composite score. Colleges do this, not you.
Score Choice = choosing the test date from which you want your scores sent.

When I registered for the SAT, I never selected or was told about Score-Choice? When do I select it or use it?

You determine whether or not you make use of score choice when you send the scores, not when you take the SAT/register for the SAT. This includes the 4 (or 8 if low income) schools that you may send your scores to for free if you so wish.

I might be completely off base but I was under the impression that a significant majority of schools, especially top tier ones, recommend or require all of your scores in order to super score (which IMO might be a lot better for many people than score choice, because it compiles a score made up of each section taken at your prime.)

Which is basically because it’s not that big a deal. I’ve taken five College Board tests…when I send my test scores to some college, I just pick the ones I think are relevant. Score Choice means I don’t have to send them results from every single test I’ve ever taken. I’m not even sure why it needs a capitalized name. :)

You’re basically going to:
- Go to [Send SAT Scores - Send SAT Results to Colleges, Universities or Scholarship Programs](<a href=“The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board”>Send SAT Scores to Colleges - SAT Suite | College Board)
- Click “Send Scores.”
- Click “Send Available Scores Now.”
- Pick your colleges.
- Click “Choose Scores” in the bar with the college name.
- Uncheck the ones you don’t want sent.

By definition, superscoring requires that you’ve taken more than one SAT/ACT and that your subsection scores weren’t universally higher on the later test.
