I took the SAT Reasoning test in June and I scored in 1890. The only problem is that I looked up SAT score requirements for UCs for the schools and I came across something that said that each subject needs a minimum score of 580. This is a problem for me because my scores separately where Math-710, Writing - 620, and Critical Reading 560 (if I have the names mixed up I’m sorry I’ve been focusing on the ACT).
Is this score even valid for admission?
There is no magic score that assures acceptance. You’ll need to prep and retake and/or take the ACT.
The University of California admissions site says that “students must achieve a minimum score of 580 on each component of the SAT Reasoning Test or 25 on the ACT composite and ACT Plus Writing test and 580 on each SAT Subject Test.” Is that untrue or does it depend on the admissions office?
Yes that’s what it says on
http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/freshman/minimum-requirements/examination/index.html
What campuses are you applying to? What are your SAT 2 scores? You’d still have to retake the SAT or take the ACT.
The above link ^^^ is if you do not meet the a-g course requirements and want to use the SAT scores in place of some of the a-g course requirements.
Yes assumed OP understands this.
OP what a-g are you missing? You should consider SAT 2s in the missing courses if applicable.
Are SAT 2s mandatory or recommended for UC Davis and UC Irvine.
According to the link posted above, I am in the top 9%. If I do not get into the UCs that I applied to, will I get admitted into ucd or uci?
@Salutation SAT 2s are not mandatory at any campus but they may help. OP may be missing a-g courses and may meet the minimum score for Admission by Examination.
Can’t really chance you as there is not enough info. Please go to the chance forum.
@Happy2Help
Thank you for your reply.
my SAT II scores are 680 and 690 for US History and Math II
Oh, I just took a look at the website and I have fulfilled the a-g requirements (just about). Thank you!
FYI for @Salutation: If you are ELC eligible and do not get into a UC campus of your choice, then the default campus is UC Merced and sometimes UC Riverside if there is room.
