SAT score curving for the school-day (not on nationwide test dates) tests

Hi,
Wondering about the school-day SAT tests - S is taking the state-mandated school day test. This is not on the College Board’s scheduled day but is in April. High schools across the state are taking it but schools can schedule it as per their administrative ease on a day within a narrow window (Apr 9-12). Wondering how the curving works for tests like this - based on recent history of a bit of harsh curving at the high end (one or two wrongs can make a big swing in the score), share any thoughts on curves for non-traditional test days.

Also, kids school is taking it on the last day of the window (most other area schools are takin on the first day but this school is mostly alone on another day) - do this will have any effect by taking a test on a day when not many students are taking it. I assume they will have a separate test paper for each of the test days - and school is offering kids to take it in advance at a nearby school (if there is a valid reason - he indeed has a conflict) - so weighing if he should take on a day when more students across the state are taking or on a day when only a few handful schools are taking. Or are we overthinking this and this schedule (or the number of students taking the test) has minimal to no effect?

The curving is based on the difficulty of the test. Easier tests will have a harsher curve. The College Board reuses tests - which is why you can only get the answer service for select tests. I would be surprised if they don’t use the same test on all the test dates. I would take the test whichever day works best for him, and not worry about the number of others taking it at the same time.

Our state (CT) allows schools only 2 dates - March 27 or April 9 (my daughter will be taking April 9).

@CTScoutmom - thanks. Its same here in our state: they have 2 dates March 27 or April 9-11 (digital version). Just came to know that makeup dates are within the same dates/range. S decided to take the test with rest of school (letting go of the other opportunity he had - SAT is more imp and he don’t want to prepone).
