I took the SAT in May and got a 2000 (CR: 750, M:630, W:620). How does that look for Boston College? I will be retaking it in October. How much do I need to improve?

I have a 4.0 uw GPA by the way, and will graduate with 11 AP classes and 12 AP tests. My scores so far are Psychology (5), World History (5), US History (5), English Language (4), Chemistry (3). I got a 740 on the World History SAT II and plan on taking Molecular Biology in the fall. I got a 30 on the ACT but I’m not planning on retaking it. I’m also Catholic, not sure if that affects admissions at all.

Also, does Boston College have any kind of arts supplement?

I not big on retaking the SAT, but you did so well on the CR, which I think is the hardest part so I think you’re a good candidate for a retest. GL

@sosomenza Yeah, I want to retake it. I didn’t get a chance to eat my snack during one of the breaks and so I was REALLY hungry for a writing and math section, which I actually think hurt my score. My performance on standardized tests depends almost solely on how alert I am when I’m taking them so if I’m hungry, thirsty, stressed, or tired I do a lot worse than I should. I’m studying this summer to retake in October. I’m confident that I’ll be able to bring math up to 730 and writing to 720.

The “middle 50% range” for admitted students for the class of 2016 is 1930-2150.
For Math it’s 640-740, Writing it’s 640-740, and CR it’s 620-710.

@1sparkle2 Hi, just to alleviate your stress a bit, I’m going to BC this fall and I was admitted Early Action with a 1940 SAT Score, 3 AP Classes and 2 AP Tests (Spanish Language and Psychology), a 620 on the US History SAT II and an 800 on the Spanish SAT II. So yeah, don’t pay attention to the “middle 50% range”, you’re definitely getting in. Good luck.

Sigh… It is naive posts like this that truly give CC a bad name.

Eduardorovira:
Please read the “Decision Threads” from the past few years for BC. You will see that many with high and very respectable SAT scores and/or GPAs have been waitlisted or flat out rejected.
