I am aware of the 25th and 75th percentiles of each school, but I just wanted to know if a 1420 SAT would be good enough to compete for these two schools.
How does the 1420 break down?
710 in each of R and W and Math
bump?
anyone lol?
For starters, don’t bump. People will respond. If you want additional responses 5 days after the last response, then you can bump.
Secondly, your scores are at or slightly above the 25th percentile for both. You’re certainly in the range. But SAT scores are just one part of the application. GPA, recs, essays, ECs all figure in. but you certainly won;t have your app thrown out solely on the basis of scores.
Good luck.
Ok thank you!
Your SAT probably won’t be the strongest part of your application, but generally speaking great grades and genuine essays and EC’s can more than make up for it
those are definite reaches. For regular decision it is probably better to be at the 75%tile mark to have a chance.
D1 Ivy schools bring in ~190 recruited athletes each class that “generally” are filling the bottom quartile along with donors, URMs etc… unhooked non-URM kids should be at the 75%tile mark IMHO and apply to a bunch to have a chance. this is easier to use than looking for common data sets . https://nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator/
On another thread you posted an ACT composite score of 34. The SAT scores posted above would be superseded by this result at most schools. However, you also posted a 1540 SAT score elsewhere. For whom are you posting?
@merc81 for a friend
Thank you!! Also, if I have a second and unrelated question, should I post it here or on another thread ?
