i scored 640V, 790M the first time i did the sat i. after a few months of studying, i did it again and scored 610V, 720M! (i am still depressed over this score) is this going to DRASTICALLY decrease my chances of getting into top 10 universities, and uc berkeley?

i will do physics and math iic in december. i did writing already, and i got a 770.

btw, my EC's are excellent, recs are fairly decent, essays...should be decent. oh, and i'm an int'l student from canada.

I'll allow those who know more about this than I do to comment further, but your SAT score is well within Berekely's middle 50% range. (Actually, your first score is exactly the same as mine, only in reverse. I'm mathematically challenged. ;) )

SATs will not ruin you. Your SAT II Writing score does make up for your weaker Verbal score on the SAT I. I would not sweat it too much. Just concentrate on the SAT II tests.
