SAT score good enough?

I live in northern Virginia. the first time i took the SATs (may 5th) I got a 1780 (Math-580 Reading-590 Writing-610) I took it the second time in October and got a 1830 (Math- 650 Reading 610 Writing- 570). My superscore is an 1870. I don't know if i should take it again. If I did I would take it on December 1st so I'd have a month to practice. I really want to get past the 2000 mark. My dream school is New York University. My GPA is a 3.76 so I would really like my SAT score to be higher than the middle 50%.

Please help me and give me any advice as to what I should do and if I should take it a second time.

It is possible. I got a 1990 in March an d a 2150 in October. That’s an 160 point jump and I didn’t even study for the second one.
I think the thing that really helped me was that I went from a 680 in writing to an 800. It’s possible to just one day be good at something, I guess, but I can’t see it happening in a month or two.
I’d suggest you look at your weakest subject and study that vigorously until you can get 700 or higher. Then if you can do this, study another subject. Learn the vocab too. But superstore may be your best friend.

If you have the chance why not?

It’s possible, but low possibility, i would apply anyways! you never know!
