SAT Score Increase on Test Day

I have been taking countless old SAT's but I am still missing my goal (for the math section in particular) by about 70 points. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, where they have been consistently scoring around a certain score, but their score jumped on the test day, out of shear excitement, adrenaline, etc.?

I was wondering this too, but kinda the other way around. During practice there is no stress or tension, but on test day it is the real thing and there is lots of pressure? People who have taken the test, does it feel easier or harder on test day?

Well, I couple of weeks before I retook my SAT, I did a practice test. I did decently, but on the actual test day, I managed to do about 100 points better. I guess you never know... (or maybe I just got lucky?)

I have the same problem, and I want to know how to fix this as well.

bump (10 char)

I always do better on the real thing than I do on the practice tests. I sort of half-way concentrate, so I miss a lot on the practices...

For all you SAT veterans - do you go up or down on the test day? I would think down... I mean with all that pressure...

Or do you go up because you're more motivated and focused?

I've only taken it once, but my score was better than I thought it would be. I think the way it works is that one is more nervous and under pressure before the test than while they take it. It depends on the person but I think in general people perform better under slight pressure as long as it is not clouding your thoughts.

i've taken it once also .. and my score for CR went down a bit, math stayed the same, and writing shot up through the roof (went way up to 800). i was really nervous for CR so i think that's why i performed a bit worse

A tad higher. You Are more focused on test day.

I generally go up.

my score decreases. at least it did in june. hopefully not on saturday though.

I went up by a little bit.
