SAT score influence in admission?

Hey guys so I was wondering, do any of you guys know how much of an influence SAT scores make on decisions?

I have a 3.8 GPA W and really good extracurriculars and letters of recommendations and everything, but the only thing holding me down is my poor SAT score (1690 is my best. 580 math - 580 writing - 530 Reading)

Before anyone starts giving me crap about my SAT score, I studies for months for the SAT and studied my butt off and this was the best I could do.

I got into all of my safeties and my sat scores are in the range of the average. but there's two other top schools I'm waiting on (bentley university and santa clara) who's sat score average is about a 610-640....

So my score is pretty close to the average. Would a college reject my application b/c my sat score was low, even if my GPA was higher than the average and i had great extra curriculars and essays?

I applied to Bentley early and they deferred me, and I'm pretty sure it's because of my SAT score.

Thanks In advance!!

It depends on the school. The Common Data Set for each school, section C7, shows the weight used for all the criteria for admission. The most recent version for Bentley is not recent http://legacy.bentley.edu/ir/documents/cds2008-2009.pdf</a>. Santa Clara’s is here: [Common Data Set](http://www.scu.edu/ir/ir/cds/cds2010_11.cfm) In both cases scores are worth about the same as GPA and class rigor.

thanks for your reply. the common data set helped… i’ve seen it before for scu.

hey @redscarlett11
i know many friends who have gotten 23, 24, and 25’s on their acts so a similar situation, others tend to get 2000’s but have a low gpa, vs. the people with low acts have a better gpa. just what i noticed. i think you still have a chance, and maybe by showing interest it can help you .
