SAT Score Inquiry

Hey, guys.

I took the SAT my freshman year, but my school never received the score. However, the score is still shown on my collegeboard account. So when I take the SAT again, would it be the second time or the first time? Also, would colleges, the ones that want all your SAT scores, know that I took the SAT my freshman year? Thanks!

If you take it again it will be second time. Almost all colleges will consider SAT scores taken anytime during high school (but not before), but there are some exceptions (Carnegie Mellon requires tests be from Sophomore or later year). Colleges that require you to send all SAT scores require you to send “all” including those from freshman year.

But it isn’t in my records. I guess it still doesn’t make a difference?

It is in your College Board record. Fact that high school doesn’t have it does not mean the record is non-existent. The colleges that require all scores require that you not excercise score choice when sending official scores from College Board. The only way to avoid College Board’s sending a score when you want to send others is to, in fact, exercise score choice at time you order them sent (you physically have to uncheck scores so they won’t be sent). Thus, if you excercise score choice, you will be violating the particular college’s rule which has an all scores rule. If your question is asking whether the college will actually learn of a score that you personally decide to hide via score choice which (a) has not been provided to your high school and (b) you decide not list on your college admissions application where it asks you to list SAT scores, and (c) you don’t mention to anyone so that someone else does not squeal on you, the answer is probably not.
