SAT Score- Please View and Help

Hey Everyone,

I took the March SAT Reasoning Test and made:

CR- 760
Math- 700
Writing- 720

1460/1600
2180/2400

I have been on CC a lot the past few weeks and I have found out how competitive people are on here.

I keep on seeing 2200's and 2300's and now my once acceptable score seems a bit on then low end.

All I am asking is a brief statement whether you personally think a 2180 is a good score and if I can (with solid GPA and EC's of course) get into HYP and other Ivies?

Please just leave a quick comment

you got your scores! lucky. i'm still waiting. good job though! i think your score is good enough for the ivies, but that's my opinion.

Is 2180 a good score in my opinion? Most definitely. 98th percentile, high five

Will it get you into HYP? Most likely not.

Will it get you into an Ivy? Most likely yes. However, let's say you were to apply to all 5 non-HYP Ivies: chances are, you'd get into only one, maybe two of them. Your chances at any one Ivy is low, but your chances at "the Ivy League" is solid. EC's and essays are so subjective that what Columbia may view as a trend of focused, academic passion may be viewed by Dartmouth as just meaningless clubs.

Didn't we already prove that you can't use statistics and say chances of getting into "an Ivy" goes up with number of schools applied to? Yes we did.

Is 2180 and a solid GPA and ECs going to get you into HYP? No. Into other Ivies? Possibly, but look at all the waitlists this year!...

If you're a URM or recruited athlete, that's a different story. But are you?

2180 is hella good score in my opinion

Godfaterbob, a 2180 is a great score and has been pivotal in many students gaining acceptance into HYP and the like. A good friend of mine applied ED to Harvard in 2006 and was cordially accepted...with an SAT score of 1950. Grant it, she had a plethora of other credentials going for her, however, colleges don't want perfection; they want variety and consistancy. To the OP, I think a 2180 is extremely admirable and should serve you justice when you apply.
