SAT score progression...

I was wondering how much peoples PSAT/SAT scores improve over the years. I got a 198 on the PSAT sophmore year, and I'm getting worried because from what I've seen most people are getting higher than me. I saw my projected SAT scores, but what do you all really think my official SAT score may be with and with out prep?

i didnt study for the PSATs and got around a 208...the 2nd time i took the SATs (only studied for writing) I got a 2260.

so there is a great room for improvement.

My PSAT sophomore year was only a 158. My PSAT my junior year was a 204. My SAT in October was a 1740. My SAT in December was an 1820. There's room for improvement, but that's proof that scores do change.

PSAT soph year - 182, SAT junior year - 2030 (no prep), then 2250 (with prep)

my sats never quite reached my psat level

PSAT soph year: 167
Soph Summer: Kaplan SAT course
PSAT Junior year: 216 (looked at PSAT book twice)
SAT practice test: 1930-ouch!!:(

I would recommend that you get "The Official SAT Study Guide: For the New SAT" from the CollegeBoard and practice doing previous tests. There is no better preparation than that, and unlike test-prep courses, the book will cost you under $20.

Oh damn it, I already paid $1k for a course at Sylvan!!!

PSAT Junior Year: 217
SAT I Junior Year: 2130
SAT I Senior Year (October): 2070
SAT I Senior Year (December): 2220

So overall, a 50 point increase.

oh and courses dont usually work in my opinion.

freshman PSAT: 192
sophomore PSAT: 218
junior PSAT: 220
SAT junior year: 2230

Don't worry about it. You're only a sophomore. You have almost an entire year before the PSAT that actually counts, and almost two years before the SAT, which you can take more than once. I'd also recommend taking advantage of Collegeboard's practice tests and sample problems, getting as used to the format and style of questions as you possibly can. Good luck!

198 is a good place to start as a sophmore. If you work at it, you can get a 2100 on the real deal.

It's quite possible for your scores to go up. I personally went from a 202 PSAT to a 1920 SAT 1(and i was sick!) to 2180 SAT 1 but don't sweat it. Your a sophomore; you have til december of your senior year!

Soph PSAT: 214, Junior PSAT: 229, SAT (Junior year): 2320

My scores improved over time, even though I never really did any preparation and didn't take any classes. I did take a few practice tests at home (though I got bored and never finished most of them). A 198 is a good place to start and you can always improve your scores, so don't worry. I would recommend using the "Real SAT" study guide as well. As I said, I didn't do much with it, but there are some excellent practice tests in there, if you have the patience to complete them.

I too am incredibly nervous about my PSAT score. I got a 204 as a sophomore and Im aiming for princeton. I want my real thing to be 2300+. Any chance?

Yes. See my PSAT score? It went from 167 to 216, a 49-point improvement (SAT equivalent: 1670 to 2160-490 points). The Kaplan SAT course helped.
