SAT Score Question for Top Schools

Greetings! So, I am unsure if this is in the right forum, but I think it's an important/interesting question nonetheless.

Do college admissions officers look mainly at an SAT Composite Score or the sub-scores? Which ones do they put more emphasis on? Or, is it one of the things where, as long as each one of your sub-scores is within the 25-75 percentile score ranges for the college, they are good enough?

For example, do you believe a top college would have a higher chance of accepting a person with scores of R: 730/ M: 730/ W: 730 (Composite 2190) or a person with scores or R: 610/ M: 800/ W: 800 (Composite 2210).

Thanks. :)

In your example, you are changing too many variables. To answer your question however, it depends. In general, they care most about your main number, but also expect that you have no major weaknesses. From there, they then also look at math and reading more than writing.

If you want to know anything more specific, you need to call the specific admission offices.
