I got a 650 on SAT bio, and i am pretty disappointed. Should i retake this, or not bother and try to do better on other subjects. I plan on doing world hist or us hist, math 2, and chem. My goal is UCB btw.

well, im going to guess that you took bio this year, so if you retake it, it will be fuzzy.
you have… how many chance to retake sat 2’s?
oct, nov, dec?
im not sure.
you only 2 for UCB… obviously 3 would be nice… so strategize of how u can take all those.
650 could be fine for ucb, but i think thats assuming the other ones are higher…
you will do great though! (this place needs a bit more encouragement, don’t you think?)

Yeah retake it. It’s easy to study for. I haven’t taken bio in a year and pulled of a decent score.

ha, your right. i keep reading about people with 750s disappointed. also since im class of 2012, is it true that subject tests are not required?

ok WAIT: you just finished ninth grade???
ok that totally changes the equation.
i thought you had just finished eleventh grade.
in that case, your assignment is to enjoy the hell out of your summer and forget the word “college board”

i don’t recommend taking it. i was in a similar position. i took bio freshmen year and only received a 650. then i took math 1 TWICE and only received a 640 and 670. These were all very discouraging scores, seeing as I am an all honors/AP student who generally excels at her studies. This year, I took 3 more thinking, it’s my junior year, why not. I didn’t study as much for each of them–b/c there were 3 at a time–and I ended up receiving a 740 on chem, a 760 on US, and a 790 on Math 2C. The moral of the story? You need to find out which subject test is really the subject test for you. I took bio freshmen year b/c I heard it was the “easiest” science subject test. But for me that clearly wasn’t true–I did almost 100 points better on chem. And, basically all colleges super score subject tests, and I’m not even sending my 2 scores in the 6’s, so no one will ever see them. What is my point? Maybe bio just isn’t the test for you. Don’t fret. You just need to pay attention to what subject tests correspond to the subjects you are taking in school. Then, take a REAL practice test from the collegeboard, and if you are already int eh 7’s, go for it. Weird things can happen–I mean I didn’t do well on math 1 at all and I almost got a perfect scores on Math 2C. SO good luck. As a freshmen, don’t retake, focus on new subjects, and knock those tests out of the park.

yea focusing on new subjects is a great idea, clearly Bio is not your thing

will it make a difference if i have a better score in chem or bio, or is it just based on what my major is?

Can i get a 750+ on either bio test if I have only take an honors biology course (and assuming i self study for 1 month)? I’m very interested in bio though, and i can memorize terms/concepts very well.

I did the same for physics and I got a 670 but I dont like physics and I only self studied for 2 weeks. I expected a much higher score though…
