I’m a junior right now, and on my first ever SAT I got a 2330 (800 math, 800 writing, 730 reading). Should I retake it next year if I am looking at Ivy League schools? I know that it is a good score, but I know that some schools don’t look at the writing section, so I would only have a 1530. Please let me know
Depends on how costly it would be for you in terms of time.
I will say a 750+ on CR will be good, but I think you are fine with those scores. Remember that IVY leagues don’t only look at scores. They do holistic admission.
2330 is an EXCELLENT score (near or at the 75th percentile at virtually every college in the country), and each of your subscores is fine. If I were you, I wouldn’t waste my time or money retaking the exam.
Thanks guys. I know that 2330 is an exceptional score, but like @Jr12317 said, I’m not sure if a 750 CR would be worth taking it again. I guess it’s food for thought over the summer
First of all, talk to your college counselor and see what they think. My suggestion would be that you identify your critical reading errors and practice to correct them over the summer. If I were you, I would take it one more time and cancel your score if you feel you did worse, but it doesn’t hurt to take it one more time if you’re confident you can do better! Good luck!
Agree with @yaytest33
.
I scarcely think that any college would turn you away based on that score alone. Unless you need a higher CR+M for a merit scholarship or something of that nature, I would say never mind retaking.
