So I completely forgot to send in my SAT scores to national merit until now-- am I screwed?

I don’t think so. I can’t remember when they wanted it by, but I actually think that December was the last month that you could TAKE the SATs. I could be wrong though. As long as you send them in now (priority would probably help), I think that you should be fine. You also might want to talk to your guidance counselor at school to make sure you are all set.

It’s not too late…quickly send your scores. If you have to have them rushed, do so.

Also, call NMCorp and let them know that you’re quickly sending your scores…ask them if there’s something else you need to do.

I was just printing another postcard to change my school choice and I noticed we need to send a score report. My guidance counselor never even told me! I sent a rush report just now, but am I out of the running? :(

mtangent…

Send the score immediately and call NMCorp.

You may get a rejection letter but you do have grounds to appeal the rejection. NMCorp really doesn’t want to reject students, so don’t be afraid to appeal.

And the NMCorp SAT code is 0085

Main Telephone: (847) 866-5100
Main Fax: (847) 866-5113

Also…try faxing a copy of your best score to them in the meantime…it’s not official but it may buy you some time.

I believe Jan 5th is their deadline to receive scores. But, again, you can appeal if you’re rejected.

also…find out if they’ll accept a faxed copy from your school with the SAT score stickies on it. Your school receives these SAT score stickies that they get from Collegeboard. Schools put those stickies on your transcript.

So, find out if your school will fax a copy of those stickies today…and contact NMCorp and tell them about it.

Thank you so much! I called their office and they were really helpful. Unfortunately, I’m most likely out of the running for the general NMSC scholarship, but I will still be able to compete for college-sponsored scholarships.

I have one more question, if you wouldn’t mind. If you have a school listed as your first choice, do other schools see that school as being your first choice? I have heard it is better to list “undecided” until you get into schools, but then again I don’t want to miss the individual school scholarship deadlines.

I don’t think the schools find out which school you put as your first choice until the deadline to change has passed.
