sat score, should i retake and take act

<p>hi, well my janunary sat scores came in and i scored a 2270. I am quite happy with the score, but in everyone's opinion, should I take a shot again with a retake to hopefully improve this score? My goal is to go for ivy league
And is it a good idea to also take the act? or is a decent sat score enough?</p>

<p>Also take the ACT. Some people do much better at it.</p>

<p>What's the breakdown of your scores (CR, M, W)? If your CR & M are good, don't bother taking it again - you are more likely to get a lower score than a higher one. Take the ACT instead, and concentrate on your SAT IIs.</p>

i have one (sat II chem) down and I plan on taking the sat II math</p>

<p>Yes, take the ACT in case you score a 35 or 36 and focus on SAT II's, but don't waste your time on anymore SAT I's--your scores are strong across the board.</p>

<p>I aso got 2270 in the Jan 27 SATs! (CR 740; M 780; W 750, essay 8). I want to apply to Ivies (the similarities keep on coming! :)) too. I don't know how I got an 8 on the essay (I've placed in the top 3 in several national essay competitions), but anyway! </p>

<p>Is this good enough? I don't have time to write the ACT (plus I don't know if you get it in my country) as I'm following a completely different education system and am a senior. This score seems to place me in the 98/99th percentile, but as I'm an international, I don't know exactly how incredibly selective the Ivies are...my scores are in the middle 50% ranges according to collegeboard, but my extra-curriculars aren't as good as most people's here so...</p>

<p>Alex, a 2270 is of course an excellent score. International competition for the Ivies and like schools is intense, but if you are a senior this year (if you will be starting college in the Fall of 2007), you really don't have any more time to retake anything anyway. A 2270 is a great score no matter how you slice it, though.</p>

<p>cubs...take the ACT. Don't waste time on the SAT, except subject tests. You have great scores.</p>
