I'm applying RD for UVA on Jan 1 and I got a 1910 but I want to improve it. My counselor said I could take my SAT and Subject tests on the Jan date and they'll still take it. Is that true?

December is the last recommended test administration. This is on the website.

Bfnk you can’t do both subject tests and the regular SAT on the same day regardless of deadlines. You have to pick one. College Board used to offer stand-by testing. I’d they still do you could try again this weekend.

Due to the issue of being able to positively identify the correct student is actually taking the exam; College Board no longer permits standby testing. However, there is an option called waitlist status. Here is the link for a better understanding of the guidelines:

So I can’t do the January SAT get the scores to UVA in time? Is that the consensus?

bfnk, Dean J is not just a member here on CC, she is a Dean of Admissions at UVa. I don’t think you can get a more reliable answer then that…well that and it’s written on their website.

Does anyone know what is the last date that UVA will accept an SAT score report? Will they accept a rushed score report from collegeboard?
Thanks in advance!

The best answer will come from Admissions. Why don’t you call them and ask?
My guess is that they are still compiling all parts of applicants’ files, so there is a chance that they will get your rushed scores before the rest of the file is complete and it enters the review process. Once it has entered that phase, I assume the updated scores will be put with it but there is no way to tell whether there are more reviews to come to your file at that point or not. I’d really call and ask (and I am assuming these are December scores you wanted to see before sending, not January scores as that has been addressed above) but if you really don’t want to, you can probably assume they are still reviewing early app files now and therefore you have a little time.

The deadline for scores is clearly listed on the UVa website under ‘Admission Instructions’ as 1/1. I do agree with 89wahoo however, call admissions and ask if they will accept them late.

Scores come in electronically all year long. We don’t “accept” or “decline” them. If an application is missing them, it sits incomplete.

Send the scores ASAP.

Dean J,
Please clear your PM box. thanks.

Epiphany, I don’t use the PM feature here. There are four ways to contact me online (email, my blog, twitter, or Facebook), but College Confidential isn’t one of them. My schedule doesn’t allow me to be here consistently at this time of year, so I don’t encourage people to use this as a means to talk to me. :)

Just an update. I called the admission office and they said that they would accept the rushed score report! Thanks for the advice :D

I hope you called before I posted. ;)

Yes, I called before I saw your post, but thank you for replying!

Just checking to make sure I still had CC cred. ;)
