What is of more importance, your total score on the SAT or how it breaks down? In my case, I got perfect scores on 2 of the sections but only in the mid 600s on the third. My total score is in the mid 2200s, which is pretty impressive and should be high enough for most schools (excluding Harvard, Princeton, Yale...), but one of my scores is below the ranges at many schools. Do colleges care more about the fact that I got in teh mid 2200s, or that I still got in the 600s on one section? By the way, the section is reading.

Since your 600 is in CR, its going to hurt you more than it would if the subject was writing. (duh)
