SAT score!

Ok so I took the sat for the first time this december and I got a 1640... In the practice tests I usually got like 1800-1900! I don't live in the US so I can't take an SAT class or sth so I was wondering how I can improve my score and get about a 2040!! Thanks!

I just answered one problem on how to prepare for SAT, it may be helpful for you too, it’s in the following:

First, …(I don’t know what to talk about SAT math because it’s not hard for where I come from)

Second, most SAT grammer problems have more than one option that sound correct but are actually wrong. You don’t need to learn about all the grammer rules to cope with SAT grammer because the types of question in it are fixed. What you need to do is just to do lots of SAT grammer questions, sum up what kinds of questions there are, and figure out (you may ask your teachers for help)some systematic ways to solve specific types of grammer questions in SAT. That is what I did for 2 month before I took SAT, and it’s proved efficient.

Third, you need to read the passage over and over again because it’s difficult to understand. To improve, you should

expand your vocabulary
whatever vocabulary books you use, figure out the excat meanings of every word so that you don’t have this feeling “oh, I saw this word, but I don’t remember what it means now”
(I’d recommend BARRON’S 3,500 Basic Word List)

read more books,challenging ones
For example, Stark Trek, usually, is not considered challenging, while books like Pride and Prejudice, The Red And the Black are.

start to answer the questions when you are reading
It’ll be a waste of time to read the whole passage and then answer the questions because you may’ve forgot it and need to re-read it.
While it’s also a waste of time to answer one question immediately after reading one paragraph(the frequent switchs from passage to question waste time), I suggest you to do several questions after reading two to three paragraphs. This way, you will still remember most of the contents.

I wish my advices can help.

And additionally, for your case, that’s because in a real SAT test, your time is even more limited since you need to fill in the question sheet, and of course you’ll be more nervous to sit in a test room of hundreds of people.
I suggest you to shorten your time for answering those questions when you are doing practice test. For example, you would only have 20 min instead of 25 min to finish one Critical Reading section. Thus, you’ll feel more comfortable when you’re taking a real test.
You may even have five minutes left to check yoru answers

Ok thanks!! The time thing is probably the main reason! Also I was wearing a digital watch (which didn’t make any sound) and they told me to take it of so I didn’t have a watch!
