SAT Score

What would be the minimum decent score for Dartmouth for an International student? :)

600 ...( 10 char)

lol is that what you cell decent? :D

well its the minimum score. My point: whatever score you get it's going to be high enough.

No what I meant was I just gave my SAT, I was wondering whether my chances would decrease greatly if I had SAT scores like 1900 or something. :D

I'm guessing 2100+ (with scores above 700 for each section). There are exceptions, obviously, but the international applicant pool is extremely competitive.

Yeah that is what I was wondering. I did well on the Math section. I have no idea about the other two ;) Unpredictable :D

2100? That's definitely the bottom of the range for internationals.

Isn't admission especially competitive for internationals? So, wouldn't those SAT scores have to be pretty high?

admissions is competitive, but its not competitive based on SAT scores. Like Cameliainsinesejtoi3joengg(sorry) said, anything over a 2100 is perfect.

Anything over a 2100 is NOT indeed perfect though. An unhooked 2300+ is going to give you troubles, so aim for a 2200+ to give yourself a fighting chance.

if you say so, big brother. i think everyone should have realized by now that SATs are the least important crieteria for admissions.

But whatever.

Ajayc, do your best, obviously, but dont get down if you get a low sat score. it really isnt worth fretting over.

I was an unhooked 2270 in need of significant aid. I realize I shouldn't draw any sweeping conclusions from a single data point, but once a student is above 700 on each section, I'd be willing to bet that the decision depends on activities, essays, and recommendations much more than on some sort of ridiculous hair-splitting of the value of a 730 versus a 780.

I would say the point to reach is 750, not 700.

the point is do to the best you can realizing that there are more important things than the sat and no matter what the outcome of your decision is, it was not based solely on that test

a 750 is EXACTLY the same as an 800. That being said, a 700 is virtually the same as a 750. honestly, think about it. A fifty point difference translates into a difference of two or three correct answers. Why would the college care how many arithmetic sums you can get right on a saturday morning? dartmouth has your transcript and your recommendations. What could a fifty point difference tell them about you that would matter when it comes to how you'd be an asset to the school? Honestly I don't know or care about a single dartmouthians sat score, and i'd probably be shot if i did :-)

well put

facebook add

Oh well If I dont get a decent score this time I am going to drop my ED plan and apply RD plan. I couldnt prepare much for SAT as i was leading a Motorcycle Rally throughout India covering thousands of Kilometers spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS. Just before the SATs I had this ceremony where Govt. of India honored us.

So I think I will have to give it again in October if I dont get a decent score. I think I am getting 750 or something on Math. No idea about CR and writing ;)

Thank You all for your response.

Cheers!

Have you heard of the organization Nalamdana? I'm going on a service trip to India at the end of this summer through them and Dartmouth to spread awareness about health and HIV/AIDS prevention.

w00t w00t!!! Yep I sure do know about Nalamdana. Hope to meet you here ;)
