Do colleges look at what the rest of your class made on their standardized test? I made a 2300 on the SAT, which will make me star student. The next closet so far, was a 1900 on the sat. My schooling is very lackluster. Teachers pick favorites very often, teachers get paid extremely low, all the good teachers move onto to public school teaching, I doubt more than 2 others cracked 600 on the math portion.
Our teachers are poor, bottom line.
Yes and no.
The colleges that you apply to aren’t going to spend the time comparing your score to the other scores in your class, and I don’t think that there’s anyway for them to know the scores of your fellow classmates (unless they apply to the same colleges as you).
So no, colleges won’t necessarily know that you had the highest SAT score in your class. However, the colleges that you look at will have regional representatives. The job of these people is to provide a context for your achievements. So if you attend a school with poor teachers and low standardized test scores, the regional representative will definitely know that and relay that information to the admissions officers. The fact that you scored so well on your SAT (and hopefully you have the grades and extracurriculars to back that up and make you competitive) will definitely be impressive, and will be made more impressive given your school’s reputation.
My advice to you would be to not be so centered on your score and numbers- colleges care about WAY more than that. Colleges want to see that you made the most of the resources available to you- they will always take into consideration your school and opportunities. Good luck!
