SAT scores and GPA

can great SAT scores save you if you have only a good GPA?

^ They can if your essay and ec’s are good.

ec’s? what are ec’s?

Extra-curriculars. High sat’s are seriously overrated IMO. At my school a 2200 got into stanford and 2120 yale. Those are good sat’s but not phenomenal. Sat’s simply get you qualified.

It depends on what your GPA is, and where you got it.

For me, I came from a small school, so I needed to get high SAT/ACTs to prove their merit. If you come from a high level private school, a lower GPA might be more acceptable along with good scores.

But you’re going to have to write good essays and have fantastic extra-curriculars and recommendations.

^ I agree. Top schools know that unknown schools usually grade in random fashions, so a high score 2250+ is ideal.
