what sat scores and gpa and ec’s would be good to be accepted at stanford?
Look at the common data set.
In 2015-2016, the 25th-75th percentile (for admitted students) of the SAT Critical Reading was 690-780, and the math was 700-800. For the ACT composite score, the 25th-75th percentile is 31-35. For GPA, 94.51% of admitted students had a GPA of over 3.75
If you want a shot at Stanford, have all your scores be above the 75th percentile. BUT, Stanford could fill their class many times over with perfect 4.0s and 1600s/36s. You also have to have interesting activities you have done in-depth, not just to pad your college resume. Look through the Stanford results threads from the past few years- you will see people who do Science Olympiad, Intel and USABO/other major exams, people who run non profits, people who have won international recognition in one of their extracurriculars.
Stanford has a less than 5% acceptance rate. That means 95% of applicants will be rejected. So don’t set your heart on one incredibly elite school. Look for matches and safeties as well.
My DD will be starting Stanford in the fall. 36 ACT (1 and done) 4.0 UW GPA. Well rounded, kind kid who I think came across as A people person. No big awards. No everyone has exceptional ECs - perfect stats do get in.
And perfect stats also get rejected. There is no magic formula, unfortunately.
My kid (no hooks) got in with 33 ACT (but NMF) and 3.9 gpa from a competitive public HS but not super competitive. I disagree that Stanford or any school can fill its class with students who got perfect gpa and scores. People with perfect stats probably double or triple their chances of admission at top schools.
And like the data set shows 31,32,33,34,35s still get it can you sell yourself is a huge part like most top schools.
so by being above the 75th percentile i need to get somewhre around a 1550-1600?
