I have just received my SAT scores... They angrily shut the door to America for me. I'm saying about this:

SAT II MATH Ic -- 750

SAT II BIOLOGY E -- 760

Here I see so many people with straight 800s, great extracurriculars, great essays and recommendations, who were rejected from the universities of my dream (which I'm applying to):

MIT
Princeton
Yale
Harvard

Yes, I know who were accepted with low SAT I, but with low SAT IIc???

You still have a shot at HYPM. They accept some people with those scores. But your dream of college in the US is by no means over. Just look a little farther afield. There are hundreds of universities in the US that will happily accept you with those scores.

Сoureur,
I think you remember me (guy from Russia with no money). I try Illinois Institute and some another one with good finaid for internetionals but I don't know what. What can you advise?

Anyone got accepted to MIT with such scores?

SAT I: 600 verbal, 650 math
SAT II: physics 730 writing 710 math iic 640

I'm still applying to MIT and already did to Princeton (early decision). Because I have the faith in myself and the selection procedure. I know these scores are just that - scores.

another thing...stardragon you are an over achieving ass!!! with your complaining attitude you dont deserve to get into MIT or any other prestigious institution of academia. with those scores anyone else would be elated. i guess your just too smart for the rest of us god forbid u get 1 or 2 questions wrong. you kinda ppl sicken me. and wen i say u kind of ppl i mean half the DAMN CC!!!

man, u guys are making me nervous about my SATs in January..

Stardragon, 750 and 760 are excellent scores - I don't know what your complaining about! When I got my 350 Physics score (lol I went from 350 to 800), I was so ****d off and angry and I CAN understand why I was angry- but I have NO IDEA why you are angry.

HYPM does not only accept 800s - if they did, their schools would be full of geeks who are only perfect in 'physics' or 'biology' etc.. (but there's few excepttions of course). They take other stuff into consideration so the schools are well rounded.

I've always thought, over 700, were scores that geniuses got. And now, I kinda still do!
After seeing all these people with 700s, Im starting to feel that this aint the place where normal international students are at.. more like hard out geniuses that I always envy!

Kerron, write in English next time, I didn't understand you. And what do you mean by the word "ass"?

Why do consider me complaining? I just ask about my chances. And will these scores hurt them? In Harvard thread I read that 760 is too low for Harvard and it should be retaken. I think that many here complain about 790 or something else, it's crazy.

I thought that only several hundred people in USA get perfect score, but now I think I was wrong.

you probably got wrong information stardragon.
the truth is that the range for HYP is 700-800. As long as your scores are in that range, that's fine.
the SAT is far from being the most important factor for admission. Most freshmen at HYP were closer to 750 or 700 than 800. Of course scoring a 1600 SAT can only help, but it's not going to get you in. Your essays, recs and grades are way more important.
Here are my scores:
SAT I= M720 V800 (=1520)
SAT II= Math 2C 800; Writing 750; French 800 (still taking World History)
And I am also applying to HYP. Trust me your scores are fine, no need to retake. COncentrate on your essays now.

I think very much, but, maybe, your status of international, high scores on Math and chem will close over Writing scores. But, usually, applicant need 650 and more to be competetive.
