Sophomore PSAT: 198
May 2009 SAT: 2110
Junior PSAT: 219
November 2009 SAT: 2220
May 2010 SAT: 2330
Overall difference (if you include the first PSAT): +350

Why this happened: I think I got more used to the test. Also, always, always, always check over whether the correct bubbles are filled in before you close your test booklet. I preserved my 800 in math this way. Oh, and I was more calm the last time I took it. Although a 2330 gives me a good bit more of an advantage, I was able to convince myself that a 2220 was good enough no matter what… even if that was a lie I was telling myself.

Jan 2010: 630CR/720M/720W - 2070
May 2010: 620CR/710M/790W - 2120
+50, superscore of 2140
Ironically, what I studied for 2nd time round was the math. First time no studying at all. However, I only went over a few basics for the “studying” and didn’t do any practice. After that I got out of the May test ticked off (I also blame a lack of sleep on that day for my lower math and CR, seeing as by the last 4 sections I was practically asleep. And I had 2 CR sections, and understood only half of what was asked as I was so asleep. AND, get this: by the time I was at section 7, it was 1:30 PM, and half the other classes had finished. Like I’d concentrate at that time. The proctors suck.)
For the June SAT, which should hopefully be my last, I’m preparing heavily, especially on CR, using the Blue Book. Not going to do any Writing practice, aside maybe get a few examples for the essay and brush up on a format for the essay to use. Want to see if I can get a 12.

For math, it’s all a matter of not doing careless mistakes for me. In all my practice tests it’s that way, and in all my actual SATs it’s that way. However, every practice test I’m doing now is 760+, with at most 2 mistakes. Hopefully I can avoid those altogether on the June date and get that 800. CR is a totally different story, but with DH I should get all SC’s wrong, and based on my practice, I’m getting a total of 4-10 wrong on each test total on the passages. Hell of a wide range, so here’s hoping the passages don’t quote the US constitution or whatever like some of the BB tests do. Seriously, I couldn’t understand a single word of the texts that had the opinions on women in the 17th-19th century. At all.

Bar that kind of text, and a 700 is guaranteed. Provided I get some sleep this time :)

First score: 2080
Second score: 2250
Difference: +170
Reason: I started guessing. That is, I realized I could gain a lot of points by guessing if I could eliminate at least one choice, as opposed to skipping the question. I also reviewed math more deeply, read a lot between the two tests, and reviewed the grammar rules for the writing section.

First score: 2280
Second score: 2320
Difference: +40

Reason: I retook the test because I scored a 680 in the Critical Reading the first time and wanted it above 700. After doing some preparation I ended up with the 720 in the section that I wanted.
