Hi guys, little help here?
I think i have seen a few threads mentioning SAT scores for International students such as Chinese, Indians…(Asians) I am yet to see one about Africans. The SAT isnt really emphasized here, those who end up hearing about it usually do so 2-3 months before writing it( and failing miserably like i did ). Has anyone come across info that would give me an idea of what SAT scores are typical of African students who get into colleges in the US? good colleges?
Anyone?
thank you!
It doesn’t matter what scores OTHERS have. It’s YOUR score that’s important.
There are plenty of self-studying guides for SAT/ACT in CC so you should look into them
The situation’s looked at within context: is English your first, or second, or third language? What preparation materials do you have access to (if any) and how easy is it for you to access the internet? What are your home environment and school environment like?
Rather than your SAT scores, officers will look at the whole picture: how exceptional are you? Top in your city? In your Province/State? In your country?
Lol, in Ghana and Nigeria, English is likely to be your first language. The problem is that many ppl here don’t have access to SAT guides that help out. For example, my family, having lived in the US knew I had to take the SAT to go to college. My friends family was surprised that such an “important exam” was primarily multiple choice and downplayed its difficulty. She didn’t do well, and then gave up on the idea of going to US.
The point is that SAT is a test that tests how well you take the test. Some girls from my school scored 1860 and 1800 and went to Yale. But she was the valedictorian of our class.
Two others got 1970, 2000 and 2100 and got MIT and Columbia.
The diff between the groups of girls was their economic class. The one who got 2100 had attended classes for most of her junior year.
