Does anyone know roughly how to figure out whether my son has a chance to qualify for CTY if he takes the SAT? He had math ISEE and SSAT scores in the mid 90's. What SSAT or ISEE scores are equivalent to the SAT scores you need for CTY? Any information welcome. Thanks.

I don’t think it’s possible to get an accurate projected SAT score without taking one. If I were you, I’d get a booklet of (real) SAT or PSAT tests (e.g. from local high school or library) and have him take it timed (only 3 math sections). The booklet has answers and weighted scoring guide.
Some practice tests are available online as well, e.g. at

My child took the SAT in January of 7th grade and (upper level) SSAT in April after 3 months. He received 97% in SSAT math but a barely CTY qualifying SAT math, I believe it was 580.

I think it depends on the child. SAT is a much longer (~4 hrs) exhausting test as well.

SSAT and SAT may not correlate very well for 7th and 8th graders. The SSAT is rather quirky, and much shorter.

D had SSAT mid 90s and SAT high 600s, and was in CTY for many years (came 10 points away from SET, which takes a 700 before age 13).

Encourage trying SAT, it is good practice and unless you want to keep a score, is erased before 9th grade.
