what would be considered a competitive composite SAT score for human ecology. i know cornell is all about fits, but assuming a person is fit, is the SAT range for human ecology lower or higher than the rest of cornell?

Moneydad,

Thanks for your advice with my Daughter you gave me last fall about making sure she can make a case for “fit”. She went to the info session for Human Ecology and is working on her essay this summer. She has her SAT’s up to 1350 (taking the ACT in Sept.), had a good year grade-wise (will end up in top 5% of class), and continues to show leadership in her EC’s (class president, captain of swim team, vice president of theatre). Her EC’s don’t correlate with her intended major (human development) but after learning in the info session that the major focuses on applied pyschology and the research that a number of professors in the college are interested in applies to school settings, her counselors rec. & perhaps her essay will bring out the fact that with both of her parents being school psychologists she ghas more insight and experience with these issues that any internship or shadowing could give her. Still moderately concerned that a low SATII math (620) score and a relatively low unweighted gpa (94) will hurt her chances. She has U of R (Susan B. Anthony scholarship) & SUNY Geneseo as her next two favorites, which I feel pretty confident she’ll get accepted to if rejected at Cornell, and she’d be happy at either.

Your welcome.
but it’s M-O-N-Y dad, not $$.

My son is looking into the same schools, along with some others. His SATs are a bit higher but grades a little lower, and not so obvious now how well the fit will be demonstrated, certainly he can derive no useful insights about it from us, so we’ll see. We can, at least, give him legacy status at two of the schools, for whatever that’s worth. Maybe he will arrive at a clear favorite and try to ED.

@csdad: I was just skimming around and saw your post about your daughter and noticed how similar we are. I applied to Cornell’s HumEc College and also URoch and SUNY Geneseo as other schools on my list. I also had a 94 UW GPA. I will be attending Cornell next year =]. Any questions, feel free to PM me on here!
