I just got back my sats for the first time and i recieved
780 CR
740 Math
660 writing

I noticed NYU says they "don't value writing" too much, but i feel like i should take again and get it up to 700. Is it worth it or i should i stick with 1520 with a 660 in writing

and for columbia should i take again bc its simply too low? if i took again i would score prob 770-800 math, but my cr score would go down. wat u guys think??

NYU does consider the writing section. Notice that it is reported in admissions statistics on the College Board website. How much it considers it is irrelevant because it considers it and you should therefore try to score as high as possible in it. That being said, you should definitely retake because your writing score is barely 50% percentile for NYU and not even 25% percentile for Columbia.

You shouldn’t worry too much about your other scores dropping because both NYU and Columbia super-score (I believe), but you should definitely try to score high in every section…at least 750 if you want to be competitive.
