SAT scores for top schools

I'm pretty disappointed with my SAT score (690 M, 690 CR, 700 W) because I'd been aiming for some ivies and other top schools and everyone on cc who has gotten into them seem to be above 2100 with most over 2200, but I'm just wondering how accurate this is. After being on this site I feel like its impossible for me to get into the schools I want after taking the SAT twice and having a 2080. But then after looking at collegeboard my scores are pretty much in the lower part of the mid-50% of scores, so that means their are obviously plenty of people with my scores or less, thought not the majority. Or are those people URMs and recruited athletes and people who have done something absolutely amazing to set them apart?

The Yale guidebook says it best:

"Two questions guide the Yale Admissions Committee in its selection of a freshman class each year: 'Who is likely to make the most of Yale's resources?' and 'Who will contribute most significantly to the Yale community?'"

Don't worry about your SAT scores. I mean, if you really think you can improve, then take it again, but don't go crazy over it.

Well make sure to make it up in some other way and you'll get accepted. If you go to collegeboard.com's "How do I stack up" part (not the 25th-75th percentiles, those are inaccurate) you'll see at the Ivies that not "everyone" has 700's in each section - usually a good chunk dont. Be sure to really concentrate hard on making amazing essays, and EC's, and stuff, and that will compensate.
