sat scores important?

So is it true what i've been hearing?

for us students, mcgill cares mostly about sat scores?

that would be phenomenal.

I’m not sure if McGill favors SAT scores over GPA, but SAT scores are definitely more important at McGill than US schools for two reasons:

1) Other than law, McGill does not use holistic admissions. Most admissions decisions are made based on grades and standardized testing; references etc. are only consulted in rare case, e.g. if someone’s right on the cusp. Therefore, your SAT is a much larger component than at US schools.

2) McGill is less likely to have established relationships with US high schools, so SAT scores are more likely to be used to help put a school and an applicant in context, because a 4.0 at HS X is a 5.3 at HS Y is a 3.6 at HS Z. (This is one of the reasons we still have the SAT - it, like the ACT and AP scores, is one of the few measures that is the same for all applicants.)
