Will colleges look at my SAT I score in comparision to the mean/median/mode (statistics) of SAT I scores from my school. For example, I currently have a 1990 total, which is a little low for some schools I'm applying to, but the highest in my school currently is only a 2010. And I'm retaking in December, so it is very probable that I will have the highest score. Will colleges compare me to the school I currently attend, as they do with AP classes, GPA and such?

I would tend to say no. AP Classes and GPA are done that way because there is less standardization among schools. However, with the SAT, each person takes the same exact test and theoretically has the same opportunities to succeed on it.

Less directly they will, sort of. If the average score in your school is extremely low, chances are that few students will be applying to the top schools. Colleges don't like to take an obscene number of students from a school, thus improving your chances at top-tier colleges over a high-scoring school.

So if only 2 people from my school apply to top schools (2 including me) but we both have high SAT scores but the everyone else at my school has very low scores, how would they know that my school is very underachieving?

Actually, most schools send a school report with your application. This usually has information on it like number of APs offered at the school, average SAT score, etc. So they probably will know by looking at that.

You should ask your guidance counselor to make sure though (whether your school sends this information or not).
