SAT Scores- Indian Aspirants

Congrats ViggyRam!

Where are you headed? BDW, I stole your link to SAT curves.

Thanks everyone lol. I didn’t think 2300 was a big deal lol.

I have applied EA to UMich. I am going to apply to Yale and Dartmouth in addition to some lesser known schools. UMich is my top choice.

Oh, and you guys should check out Canadian universities as well. You probably have but they are great options and MUCH easier to get into than Ivys. Check out UofToronto (large indian and asian population), McGill (great for business, world reputation, but very cold and it’s in Quebec…lol), and others!

Viggy, How is UBC? Vancouver is beautiful but I don’t know much about UBC.

Viggy-why Umich? aren’t your scores an overkill for Mich? and I thought you were thinking about Cornell

Dude Tippu UBC is definately somewhere u don’t wanna go if u have sat scores above 1600. Ive heard quite a lot about UBC and it seems to be the home of everyone with low sat scores or none at all

Really? I must have been under some kind of hallucination when I saw this:

[Canada Universities in Top 500 - 2010](http://www.arwu.org/Country2010Main.jsp?param=Canada)

Please tell me more.

Rankings can be very misleading. I know several people from my city who have gone to UBC simply coz the failed half their exams here, becoz it does not sat score submission and apparently because it has an amazing party scene.

Whatever i have seen of your posts seem to show that ur quite good and actually want to go somewhere a little more serious.

people please chance me at-<a href=“Please chance me ill chance back - International Students - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/india/1023394-please-chance-me-ill-chance-back.html</a></p>

2100
Writing 770
Critical Reading 710
Math 620

I’m taking it again next week to TRY to bring them up :frowning:
scared…

Violator, I am not serious about Canadian universites. Going to a Canadian university doesn’t make sense for US residents and citizens and I am a US citizen.

Good luck AmericanChai.

AmericanChai, I hope you will have enough practice before the November SAT to bring up your SAT score. Don’t just write the exam without any more preparation. Collegeboard says that your score will not improve unless you practice sufficiently. My friend took the June SAT and got a 2040. She took October SAT without any more practice and got a 2040, again. So, I’d recommend you take the December SAT unless of course, you have been practising lots of math.

Ohk i did not know that… How are ur scores … where all u applying?

And people plz chk- http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/india/1023394-please-chance-me-ill-chance-back.html</a></p>

thanks for the advice
and yes, I’ve been practicing (I’ve had to give up having a life for the past month-ish, but hopefully it’ll pay off…) for the SAT.
I think one of my main problems is that I have some sort of testing anxiety. like, I freak out SO bad before tests. I don’t know how to stop that…

I can’t really advise you on how to tackle anxiety before a test, since I’m a victim of that too. :(

AmericanChai, I understand how you feel. It is important that you get enough rest before the test. Try to indulge yourself in rigorous physical activity on a regular basis. Do something that you enjoy doing besides preparing for the test. Again, wish you all the best.

thank you :)

Yes, Americans at Canadian universities DO usually have lower SAT scores. BUT, that doesn’t mean that Canadian schools are bad options. Canadian schools have not too many international students, so they accept perhaps ‘subpar’ applicants from outside of Canada to boost the international population at the university.

Yes, the class sized will be enormous year 1 and year 2 unlike at Ivys, but these schools in Canada do not have the funding of Ivys. The highest endowment in Canada is 1billion, I believe (U of T).

Yes, class sizes will be enormous yr.1 and yr.2. Yes, they don’t have the reputation of the Harvards, Yales, etc. BUT they are viable options that people should at least think about.

UBC is supposed to have an absolutely gorgeous campus and surrounding area. However, I don’t think it is the Canadian option.

@who ever asked about UMich, I love UMich ahaha. I’m going to be a premed so I don’t really mind if I go there and my SAT scores are above others; I need that high GPA. Also, don’t underestimate UMich; the 75th percentile out of 2400 is 2200, and its engineering programs and school of business are amazing. (among the top recruited)

^Let me congratulate you too Viggy (is your name Vignesh?just guessing). And Indeed UMich is an excellent place to be. The quality of work been done there is amazing.
